Old Business:

  • 2013 Convention update: Bill, K0DEW – The next meeting date has been changed to February 25th, with breakfast at Elm Street Eatery at 8:00 and the meeting to start at 9:00 at the library board room.
  • New repeater for Conway: Gary, N0GW – No change since last meeting.  Attempts to locate manual to repair the Motorola MSF-5000 repeater have not been successful.  A Kansas City club offered to copy their manual for us but discovered it was a manual for a UHF repeater, not a VHF model like ours.  Now they are also looking for a VHF manual.  Thomas, K6KUE, mentioned that he worked with a group in the past that might have an appropriate manual.  He will attempt to contact them.
  • Feb 11, 2012, Life Point Church 5K RunThis run appears to be happening but event officials have not contacted the club for support.
  • License testing session: This session will be held at the Laclede County Office of Emergency Management, EOC, on Saturday, February 18th.  The office doors will be open at 10:00 AM with computers available for on-line test practice.  Testing will begin at 1:00 PM.  Testing for all classes of license will be available.  Walk-ins are welcome.
  • Weather Spotter training session: Jon, KB0YDU – This session has been scheduled for Wednesday, February 29th, at 6:30 PM.  It will be held at the Laclede Electric office in Lebanon.  This is a great presentation, well worth attending.  Though it is oriented toward the knowledge needed by weather spotters, it is a great source of information on storm and tornado formation and behavior – with great videos and graphics.  Jon would like everyone to RSVP so he can have an estimate of the expected attendance. That web page is: http://www.lacledeoem.net/cms/
  • K0LH Digipeater: Gary, N0GW – The K0LH APRS digipeater is installed and operational.  It is providing much improved APRS coverage to Laclede County and western parts of Pulaski County.  The digipeater’s TNC was originally to be a temporary loan from Gary, N0GW, but it will now be the permanent device.  The club voted to buy the TNC from Gary for $150.
  • Surplus public service radio equipment: Jon, KB0YDU, reported that conversion to narrow band and trunking is a little slower than originally planned but a fairly large amount of equipment will be coming to the club.  Already he has received several very good public service band antennas and several rolls of coax hardline
  • Web site update: Mike, WB9M – the update is complete and working well.  No problems were noted by club members.
  • New Business
  • Joint meeting with Rolla club in April – Gary, N0GW, reported a request from the Rolla club to again have a joint dinner meeting in Waynesville.  This was approved.  Jack, KB0ZPS, will be making the reservations.  It will be held on April 2nd at 6:00 PM at the Price Cutter Restaurant at I-44 exit 156.
  • Statewide Tornado Drill: Jon, KB0YDU, reported that the annual Missouri statewide tornado drill will be held on Tuesday, March 13th at 1:30 PM.  Volunteers are needed at the EOC, Mercy Hospital, and Red Cross office.  Those able to be near their radios at that time should check into the net.
  • Shakeout Drill: Jon, KB0YDU, reported that though Laclede County has little direct involvement in the drill, the EOC will call a net at that time.  Bill, NX0V will be on 2 meters at the Lebanon Mercy Hospital for their part of the drill.
  • Jon Ayres, KB0YDU, Director of the Laclede County Office of Emergency Management, volunteered to give his presentation of  Joplin Tornado Lessons Learned at the next meeting.
  • John Hunter, Captain, Lebanon Fire Department, offered to provide a short overview of the National Incident Management System and Incident Command System used by all emergency services agencies now.  His presentation is now scheduled for the May LARC meeting.
  • Election of Officers: An election committee was formed.  The presented a recommendation that current office holders remain in office.  That was moved, seconded, and passed by attending members.
