LARC Meeting Minutes – July 6th, 2010

The July, 2010 Lebanon Amateur Radio Club meeting was held in the Lebanon/Laclede Public Library.  Attending were: Barry AB0WG, Dale K0DLP, Tom KN4JX, Frank N0LRG, David K0JAS, Bill K0DEW, Mike WB9M, Gary N0GW, Jeff K0JAS, Quinten KD0KAK

Old Business:

• Field Day report: With over 600 contacts, including over 50 with other EOCs, this years Field Day exercise was very successful. Work from previous years of Field Day operation from the Laclede EOC has resulted in a much lower electrical noise level, making operation much easier. Extra thanks to Bill, K0DEQ for running up a high score with his CW operation. Jeff, K0JAS, in keeping with the emergency operation theme, experimented with creating CW keys out of objects laying around the office.  Bill, K0DEW made several contacts using Jeff’s creations.
• Tech Class, August 21^st and 22nd. Instructors from previous classes volunteered again for the up-coming session. Bill, K0DEW, reported that he will order additional testing material as the class date approaches.  Gary, N0GW, reported that the ARRL instructor’s material has not been updated so earlier material will be used for the class.
• St. John's Hospital orientation class: Gary, N0GW, reported that he had sent info about the availability of club members to Robert Smith, security chief at the hospital.  To date, K0JAS, KD0IVA, N0GW, WY0Q, and K0DEW have volunteered.  Gary will make a follow up contact with Smith.

New Business

• September LARC meeting is tentatively scheduled to be held again at Dale, K0DLP’s house near Marshfield. Note also that Monday, September 6^th is a holiday so the meeting will be shifted to Tuesday, September 7^th.
• QSL Cards: Bill, K0DEW, requested general approval of an idea to order the next batch of QSL cards with multiple call signs (similar to what some DXpedition’s use). The concept is to minimize the number of different Rout 66 On-The-Air QSL cards we will need in the future.  Those present approved of the idea.
